Secondhand Time 《二手時間》

Secondhand Time is my long-term ongoing project. I began the project in 2018. The inspiration and title derive from Svetlana Alexievich’s 2013 eponymous novel.

The reproduction of second-hand books is an exploration of the extension of objects in time and space and an extension of the concept of flat images. I’m fascinated by the fading, worn patina, scars and fragility of old books and objects worn by time and soaked with traces of human use. I treat second-hand books as independent survivors experiencing the paradoxes, values, questions, and controversies associated with perplexing society and contemporary life: replicative generation, change, and decay transport consciousness into past lives, spaces, and times. I am probing the stories behind the survivors of second-hand books and their expected forms of interpretation through multi-dimensional dialogue.

《二手時間》是我長期執行的課題。 我於 2018 年開始這個課題，靈感和課題名稱都源自俄羅斯作家斯韋特蘭娜·阿列克謝耶維奇 2013 年的同名小說。

對二手書的複製，是討論物件在時間和空間上的延展，同時也是對平面圖像這一概念的延伸。我沉迷於舊書的褪色、磨損的光澤、累累的傷痕和脆弱，這些物件被時間消耗過，浸透著人類使用的痕跡。 我將二手書視為獨立倖存者，它們經歷著令人困惑的社會和當代生活相關的悖論、價值觀、問題和爭議。 生成、改變和衰敗的複製過程將意識傳送到過往的生命、空間和時間。試圖通過多重維度的對話去探究二手書這一倖存者背後的故事和它們所預期的解讀形式。
